Android Micro-Servers
Two Android devices run the same Termux + Caddy + sshd setup as always-on LAN servers. No root needed.
| Device | Hardware | LAN | Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| retroid | Retroid Pocket 2S, ~3.5 GB RAM | 192.168.1.82 | LAN static server, also a retro-gaming handheld |
| tablet | Lenovo Tab M10 Plus 3rd Gen, 4 GB | 192.168.1.83 | LAN static server plus status dashboard |
The Services
- Termux provides the Linux userland
- Caddy serves
~/wwwon:8080(file_server) - sshd gives key-only shell access on
:8022 - Termux:Boot restarts the services after a reboot
- cron regenerates a
status.json/status.htmldashboard every few hours
Both ports are non-standard because Android reserves low ports. Each device keeps a device/ mirror of its Termux $HOME in the repo; a deploy script pushes edits over SSH.
Operating Them
- Files: drop into
~/wwwor rsync a local dir - Health:
ssh <host> “ps -A | grep -E 'sshd|caddy'”or curl the status page - If sshd or Caddy is not running: Termux was removed from recents or the device rebooted without an unlock. Restart the services with adb: Android ADB Control
- What else the setup can run: Termux Server Stack
